These beans are rich and delicious and a perfect way to mix up the breakfast menu with something savoury. To level up your beans, pop them into a baking dish and then crack a few eggs on top and bake for 15 minutes. 


Age Recommendation - These beans freeze really well too and simply fork mash before serving for smaller bubs (6-9 months).

Homemade Smokey Baked Beans


  • 2 x cans of cannellini beans 
  • 1 x red capsicum 
  • 1  x onion diced 
  • 1 tsp of olive oil
  • 1 tbs minced garlic 
  • 1 tbs smoked paprika 
  • 140g small can of tomato paste 
  • 1 x 400g can diced tomatoes 
  • 2 x date or prunes diced (optional)
  • 1 apple (grated, or cooked and mashed)
  • 1 tbs apple cider vinegar 
  • 1 tbs Dijon mustard 
  • Good crack of pepper
  • ¼ tsp of cinnamon 
  • Optional: sprinkle of cayenne pepper


  • Add your olive oil, garlic, onion and capsicum to your pot and cook until softening. 
  • Add in your paprika and stir for 1-2 mins before adding in everything else. 
  • Cook for 15-20 minutes
