These Orange Cream Cakes by Starting Solids Australia are a great little lunchbox snack. With sweetness of cream cheese and zing of orange they are the perfect combination.

Age Recommendation - These are a great snack for kiddos over 2. Due to the sugar content we recommend these as a lunchbox snack for older toddler or school aged kids.
To make for younger kids simply omit the sugar or reduce the quantity as the texture itself is perfect for bubs of all ages.

Orange Cream Cakes

Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs
  • 3 TBSP brown sugar
  • Rind of 1 orange
  • 3/4 cup Almond Meal
  • 1/3 Cup Greek Yogurt
  • 1/3 Cup Wholemeal Self Raising Flour
  • 80g Cream Cheese (Softened)
  • 1 TBSP Icing Sugar
  • Juice of half an orange

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 170 degrees
  • Beat eggs, sugar and orange rind together until soft and fluffy
  • Add almond meal, flour and greek yogurt to the egg mixture and whisk to combine.
  • Spray your dainty dozen baking tray with olive oil spray.
  • Pour mixture into tray (makes 12 mini cakes)
  • Bake in 170 degrees Celsius oven for 27 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool.

For the icing, add cream cheese, icing sugar and orange juice to a bowl and whisk to combine.

Serve with the left over orange chopped into quarters.
