Only Organic Banana Blueberry & Quinoa

What's in it:

Banana (70%), Water, Blueberry (4.5%), Quinoa (1.5%), Vitamin C, Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid), Vanilla Extract.

Allergens:

None present.

May contain (allergen label):

None present.

Age / who it is suitable for:

The product packaging states not recommended for babies under the age of 6 months. We can't see any reason why this wouldn't be suitable for younger babies who have shown all the signs of readiness and started solids.

Texture / Flavour:

Very smooth, glossy texture. Feels a little bit sticky in the mouth. As far as flavour goes, what can we say, it tastes like baby food. It's essentially mashed banana that's been blended and whipped within an inch of its life and squeezed into a pouch. That's what it tastes like. The colour reiterates just how much blueberry is actually in the pouch - nary a hint of blueberry colour.

Cost: $2.30 per 120g/packet ($1.92 per 100g)

What we like:

Theres really not much to say here.

  • Convenient
  • Great texture for babies starting out on smooth puree
  • Shelf Stable makes it an easy option for on the go
  • Organic ingredients - if that's important to you

What we like less:

  • It's essentially just banana. Blueberry makes up 4.5% of the ingredients and Quinoa 1.5%. Makes the name Banana, Blueberry & Quinoa seem a little bit misleading...

Packaging Claims:

As above - The name seems wildly inappropriate when the majority of the pouch is Banana.

No Added Sugar - This is true. There's no added sugar but when the majority of the meal is just banana it already has a decent sugar content and is sweet enough. There is a hint of Vanilla Extract used to sweeten it further.

The Take Home:

Just mash a banana and be done with it. It will cost you 55c instead of $2.30. Mix in some flaxseed and peanut butter and you will have yourself a nutrient dense alternative ready in 30 seconds.
