What we collect
When you buy something. Your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number and what you ordered. Payments are handled by Shopify and its payment providers — we never see or store your full card number.
When you create an account. Your name and email address, and your order and subscription history. Signing in uses a code sent to your email; we don't store a password.
When you subscribe to the Library. Your subscription status and billing dates, so we know what you have access to.
When you sign up for emails or texts. Your email address or mobile number, and whether you opened or clicked. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by replying STOP to a text.
When you leave a review. Your name as you give it, your rating and your review, which are shown publicly.
When you use our courses or community. Your name, the posts and comments you write, and which lessons you've completed.
When you visit the site. Standard technical information — IP address, browser, pages viewed — used to keep the site working and understand what people find useful.
The app
What stays on your phone. The food tracker, allergen tracker and meal planner are stored on your device. Your child's name, the foods they've tried, allergen records, your notes and your meal plans stay on your phone, and if you delete the app that information goes with it.
Unless you share it. If you choose to share your records with a carer — the other parent, a grandparent, anyone else who feeds your baby — a copy is stored on our servers, because two people can't see the same record otherwise. That copy holds the same things: your child's name or nickname, the foods they've tried and when, whether they liked them, your notes, allergen exposures and reactions you've recorded, and your meal plans. It is readable by you, by the people you've shared with, and by us.
You decide, and you can undo it. Nothing is shared unless you add someone. Removing the last person you've shared with deletes the stored copy, and the app goes back to keeping everything on your phone. If your Library membership ends, sharing stops working and the stored copy is deleted shortly afterwards.
Your child's information. The app is for parents and carers, not children. Anything you record about your baby is information you choose to enter. Some of it — a note about a reaction to a food, for example — is health information, and we treat it with the extra care Australian privacy law requires for health information. We don't use it for advertising, we don't use it to build profiles, and we don't share it with anyone except the carers you name.
Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a device token so we can send them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings.
What we can see. Which parts of the app are used, and errors, so we can fix problems.
Advertising. If you give permission, we use your email address to show you our own recipes, guides and products on other apps and websites, through Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google. We do this so the ads you see from us are about feeding your baby rather than something irrelevant. The app asks you first, and nothing is shared for advertising unless you say yes. Your child's records are never used for advertising, whatever you answer. You can change your answer at any time in your phone's settings under Privacy & Security, then Tracking. If you say no, we leave you out of those audiences.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account from inside the app, under Account. This asks Shopify to erase your personal information and deletes any shared records we hold for you. We keep order records where the law requires us to, for tax purposes.
Who we share it with
We use other companies to run parts of our business. They only receive what they need, and only to provide their service to us:
-
Shopify — our online store, checkout, customer accounts and app services
-
Klaviyo — email, SMS and push notifications
-
Meta and Google — showing you our own ads, only if you've allowed it
-
Tevello — courses and the members community
-
Judge.me — product reviews
-
Cloudflare — the service that checks your membership, delivers your e-books, and stores shared tracker records
-
Gorgias — customer support conversations
-
Australia Post and other carriers — delivering your order
We don't sell your personal information, and we never have.
Some of these companies store information outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure it's handled consistently with Australian privacy law.
How long we keep it
Order and tax records are kept for seven years, as Australian law requires. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Account information is kept while your account is open. Shared tracker records are kept while you're sharing them, and deleted when you stop sharing or when your membership ends. Anything held only on your phone is kept until you delete it or delete the app.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you
- send you a copy of it
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your account and personal information
Email support@startingsolidsaustralia.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
