10 Toast Spreads For Baby (That Aren't Vegemite)
Lets be honest toast is a super easy and convenient meal however sometimes its hard to think past the old butter and Vegemite (ideally 12m+ due to sodium) option that most of us probably grew up with as a staple.
Im here to tell you the sky is the limit in terms of what you can spread onto toast and make into a meal for your little one. We want to think of toast as a vessel for feeding our little one the nutrient dense purees and mashes that we so lovingly prepare. (Tip* you can also use the baby rusks and biscuits). Before I get into that though I want to talk quickly about the best type of bread to buy and the sweet spot of toasting because I know these are things I will be asked!
1. Green Eggs (or just eggs)
Scrambled eggs has got to be one of my favourite ways to offer them to babies. So easy and quick to prepare. Its nutrient dense and also ticks off the exposing eggs frequently to prevent allergies checklist! Full recipe for green eggs can be found in the recipe library.

2. Raspberry and Ricotta
A fun, more nutritious option than plain old jam. Aka less sugar from the jam and the addition of ricotta gives a little bit of a fat and protein content to keep our little ones a little bit fuller for longer. Ive simply spread ricotta on the strips and then used a knife to squash the raspberries on top.

3. Cashew Butter and Mashed Banana
A simple, delicious combination that combines fruit with a fat and protein kick from the cashew butter. Again with the added benefit of exposing to the tree nut with each offering.

4. Tahini, Apple and Cinnamon
I think we can all agree theres a trend here where i'm combining fruit / veg with some sort of paste to add some more nutrition. This ones no different. Grated apple combined with sprinkled cinnamon is delicious but add the tahini and we have an allergen (sesame) exposure, and some delicious healthy fats.

5. Hummus and pureed or grated carrot
6. Pureed beetroot and cream cheese
7. Canned Tuna or Salmon and Cottage cheese
8. Mashed black beans, tomato passata and grated mozzarella
9. Cream Cheese, grated strawberry and a sprinkle of chia seeds
10. Avocado, hummus and crushed pistachio.
