Aldi Brooklea Yoghurt Pouches Review: Are They a Good Option for Kids?

Quick Overview

We are finally reviewing the Aldi Brooklea yoghurt pouches — and honestly, they live up to the hype. These are a low/no added sugar, full-fat yoghurt option that ticks a lot of boxes nutritionally while also being one of the most budget-friendly pouches available.

What’s In It?

Milk, cream (milk), milk solids, water, rice starch, natural flavours, lemon pulp and live yoghurt cultures.
Fruit varieties also contain fruit (for example, seedless strawberry pulp 4.2%).

Cost: $1.29–$1.49 per 110g pouch — making it the cheapest yoghurt pouch currently on the market.

Nutrition, Texture, Skills & Age

Nutritionally, these pouches fit really well within what we look for in kids’ yoghurt options.

Sugar sits at 4.0g per 100g, with no added sugar — the sugar present is naturally occurring from dairy. Even the fruit varieties remain low in sugar.

It is a full-fat yoghurt, which is exactly what we want for children under two years of age. Saturated fat is slightly higher, but this is expected with full-fat dairy and not something we’re concerned about.

These pouches are also a good source of calcium, meeting the target of 120mg per 100g.

Allergen Information

Contains milk.

What We Like

  • No added sugar (even fruit flavours)

  • Naturally low sugar yoghurt option

  • Full fat — ideal for children under 2

  • Meets calcium targets

  • Most budget-friendly yoghurt pouch available

What We Don’t Like As Much

There aren’t many downsides nutritionally. Saturated fat is slightly higher, but this is normal for full-fat dairy.

The main consideration is that pouches don’t support feeding skill development as well as bowl and spoon feeding, so we recommend using them mainly for convenience moments rather than every serve. From a feeding perspective, pouches are convenient and low mess, particularly for lunchboxes or when you’re out and about. However, whenever possible we still recommend serving yoghurt in a bowl to help support spoon skills and self-feeding development.

How to Serve to Balance the Meal

Use pouches for lunchboxes or on-the-go snacks, and when you can, squeeze the yoghurt into a bowl and offer it with a spoon to help build self-feeding skills.

FAQ

Does Aldi Brooklea yoghurt have added sugar?
No — the sugar present is naturally occurring from dairy.

Is it suitable for toddlers?
Yes. The full-fat content makes it particularly suitable for children under two years.

Is it comparable to other yoghurt pouches?
Yes — nutritionally very similar to Tamar Valley no added sugar pouches, but at almost half the price.

The Take Home

Overall, we really love the Aldi Brooklea yoghurt pouches. They tick the boxes for low/no added sugar, full-fat dairy for younger children, affordability and calcium content — making them an excellent everyday yoghurt pouch option for families.
