Decorate Your Own Watermelon Christmas Tree
Ingredients
- Watermelon
- Cream Cheese (in a piping bag or zip lock bag with the end cut off)
Decorations! We used:
- Chocolate chips
- Blueberries
- raspberries
- desiccated coconut (for snow)
You can really use anything you want for the decorations!
Directions
- Slice your watermelon into wedges and then cut out the shape of a Christmas tree
- Squeeze your cream cheese out of the bag and onto your tree (zig zag pattern like tinsel is perfect!)
- Then place your decorations on top of the cream cheese so they stick
- Serve as soon as they are finished!
Storage Instructions
These are best decorated and eaten fresh — the watermelon releases juice as it sits.
Cut watermelon trees (undecorated) can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Not suitable for freezing.
Nutrition Notes
Watermelon is hydrating and provides vitamin C, while cream cheese adds calcium and fats. Berry decorations bring extra fibre and antioxidants — a fresh, fun alternative to sugary Christmas treats.
Parent Tip
Cut the tree shapes ahead of time and set up a little decorating station — it makes a brilliant Christmas playdate or Christmas Eve activity while dinner is cooking.
