Product Review: Yoghurt Tubs We Love!

Written by: Jeanette Blandford | Published on May 28, 2025

You have asked for it, so we have done it....here are our favourite yoghurt tubs for babies starting solids!

Now, we will say upfront that this is not an exhaustive list- there are ALWAYS new brands coming to our supermarket shelves and there are also going to be variations depending on where you live too. This is why we have also written a resource on how to pick the best yoghurt, so you have all the information you need to make your own decision as well. You can find this resource here.

Although this resource is excellent and will help you work out what yoghurt is best for your family, we also get that parents are time poor. Sometimes you just want someone to tell you what options hit the mark so you can get in and out of the supermarket as quickly as possible.

Firstly, a quick recap on what to look for:

  • As a rule of thumb Greek, Greek Style and Natural Yoghurts are usually best.

  • Aim for full fat (aiming for more than 3.5g per 100g of fat and avoid anything less than 3g per 100g as this is low fat). Some brands will use skim milk but add cream back in, so although the milk used isn't full fat the actual product is.

  • No added sugar (as well as the obvious ingredients on the label like "cane sugar" look out for added fruit juice as a sweetener too). If you want to add in flavouring- you can do so at home by adding things like mashed fruit and nut butters.

Now onto some of our top recommendations....

Tamar Valley Dairy-Greek Style Natural Yoghurt

Full fat with 9.6g per 100g

5g protein per 100g

No added sugar

$8.00 per 1kg Tub

This one hits the mark. A simple 4 ingredient full fat yoghurt without added sugar.  It is also less tart than some other plain yoghurts, so it is great for babies that are still getting use to the slightly sour taste of Greek yoghurts (although we definitely encourage you to keep offering these too! This is the key to giving our little ones time to learn about new and interesting flavours.)

Chobani Greek Yoghurt

Full fat with 4g per 100g

8.6g protein per 100g

No added sugar

$7.60 per 1kg Tub

Another great option! Although it is lower in fat (as it has used skim milk then added cream into it) it is still considered full fat, so perfect for babies. With only 3 ingredients (skim milk, cream and live cultures) it has a simple ingredient list and no added sugar in this one either. We are big fans.

Jalna Pot Set Greek Natural Yoghurt

Full fat with 7.1g per 100g

3.8g protein per 100g

No added sugar

$8.30 per 1kg Tub

Another super simple ingredient list, which makes it so easy to see that this tub has no added sugar and is full fat. This one is a little more tart but super thick and creamy. If your bub isn't use to the tart flavour yet add in some nut butter or mash some banana through. It can take more than 20 exposures to a food to work out if they like it or not. Adding in other flavours can help with this too. It also has those gut loving live cultures in there!

Farmers Union- Greek Style Natural Yoghurt

Full fat with 9.4g per 100g

4.5g of protein per 100g

No added sugar

$6.50 per 1kg Tub

A little cheaper per kilo (a big plus!) but absolutely still hits the mark- a great yoghurt tub for babies. No added sugar or sweeteners, it only has 4 ingredients with milk, milk solids, cream and live cultures added. An excellent choice!

Coles Brand- Greek Style Natural Yoghurt

Full Fat with 9.3g per 100g

4.8g protein per 100g

No added sugar

$4.40 per 1kg Tub

We love the price point on this yoghurt! Again, a short and sweet ingredient list, which makes it easy to see that there is no added sugar or sweeteners, that it is full fat AND has those lovely live cultures. This yoghurt is a little more on the tart side but as we previously suggested adding in other flavours at home can help with this if it is a little sour for your bub. However, many babies really love tart yoghurt! Embrace the window of opportunity between 6-12 months where babies tend to have a good crack at any food in front of them! This is the time to exposure them to tart, bitter and sour foods.

Woolworths Brand-Greek Style Natural Yoghurt

Full Fat with 7.3g per 100g

6g of protein per 100g

No added sugar

$4.40 per 1kg Tub

We don't play favourites when it comes to supermarkets, so had to include the Woolies home brand too. Just like its competitor above it is full fat, has no added sugar, has live cultures and a great price point. This is another excellent choice to add to your shopping trolley!
