Review: Vaalia Kids Probiotic Yoghurt Pouch Vanilla

Written by: Jeanette Blandford | Published on April 28, 2026

Vaalia Kids Probiotic Yoghurt Pouch Vanilla is marketed as a kids yoghurt with big claims like “boost immunity,” “Australia’s most loved kids yoghurt,” and “vitamin B12 for sustained energy and concentration.” It does contain live cultures and meets protein targets, but when we look closer, it misses the mark in a few key areas we prioritise for kids’ yoghurt pouches.

What’s In It?

Milk, skim milk, milk solids, water, sugar, rice starch, gelatine, natural flavours, acidity regulators (330, 331), enzyme (lactase), live yoghurt cultures (from milk) including L. acidophilus, Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus GG.

Cost

$2.50 for a 140g pouch, which works out to around $1.79 per 100g. This sits on the more expensive side for yoghurt pouches.

Allergens

Contains milk.

Nutrition Info

Fat sits at 2.5g per 100g, which makes this a low fat yoghurt. For kids under 2, we ideally want full fat yoghurt and aim for more than 3.5g per 100g, so this falls short.

Sugar is 9.4g per 100g and sugar is listed directly in the ingredients, meaning this contains added sugar. We ideally want no added sugar, including avoiding fruit juice concentrates used for sweetness.

Protein is 4.6g per 100g, which is great and comfortably meets our target of more than 3g per 100g.

Sodium is low at 48mg per 100g.

It also contains live cultures including L. acidophilus, Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus GG, which is a positive.

The packaging highlights probiotics and immunity support, but nutritionally the added sugar and low fat content are bigger considerations for us.

What We Like

  • Contains live cultures
  • Good protein content
  • Low sodium

What We Don’t Like As Much

  • Contains added sugar
  • Low fat yoghurt rather than full fat
  • More expensive than better options on the market
  • Packaging claims sound impressive, but nutritionally there are stronger choices available

Serving Recommendation

If using yoghurt pouches, we still recommend offering yoghurt in a bowl with a spoon when you can to help support self-feeding skills. Pairing with fruit or alongside other whole foods can help create a more balanced snack.
