No flour, no egg and no added sugar. These mini muffins are made in one bowl with ripe bananas, oats and a spoonful of almond butter, then baked in about 20 minutes. They're soft enough for new eaters and easy to hold.
They're a great way to use up brown bananas, and they freeze really well for quick breakfasts.
Age Recommendation - Suitable from 6 months. Squash any blueberries flat before topping.

Age & Texture Guidance
6–9 months: Serve a whole mini muffin for bub to hold, or cut it in half. Check it squashes easily between your thumb and finger. You can also crumble one into plain yoghurt and serve on a pre-loaded spoon.
9–12 months: Break into small pieces for pincer grasp practice, or serve whole.
12 months+: Serve whole with yoghurt and fruit, or pop one in the lunch box.
Every baby is different, so go at your little one's pace, and always stay close and supervise while they eat, with bub sitting upright in their high chair.
Allergens Present
- Tree nuts from the almond butter (ASCIA common food allergen)
- Cow's milk / dairy if you use cow's milk (ASCIA common food allergen)
There's no egg or wheat in this recipe. If this is bub's first time trying almond, make it the only new allergen at that meal and serve it earlier in the day so you can keep an eye on them. Once a common allergen is part of your bub's diet and tolerated, ASCIA recommends keeping it going at least once a week.
Allergen Substitutions
- Nut free: use sunflower seed butter instead of almond butter.
- Dairy free: use breastmilk, formula or an unsweetened plant milk like oat or soy.

Dietitian tip
The riper the banana, the better. Brown, spotty bananas are sweeter and mash more easily, which means a moister muffin and no need for any added sugar. Mash them well so there are no big lumps in the batter.
