Soft baked quinoa cups with tuna, broccoli and pumpkin — a wheat-free, iron-rich finger food that's perfect for little hands and freezes beautifully for busy days.

If you have a wheat free bub, or just want some variety when it comes to grains for your little one, then these baked quinoa cups are perfect.

What is Quinoa?

Quinoa (said keen-wah) is often grouped into the grain family, but it is actually a seed, native to South America. Quinoa is wheat free, so a good option for families avoiding wheat or if you haven't yet introduced wheat to your bub. You can get quinoa in many different forms, including flakes (great for porridge), flours and then the original seed form. It has a lovely nutty flavour and is packed full of nutrients including iron, protein, zinc, magnesium, B vitamins and even some omega 3 and 6!

Once cooked down, the quinoa seeds are nice and soft and a great food for babies starting solids. Just like a grain, quinoa is very versatile and can be used for sweet or savoury dishes. These quinoa cups are another handy finger food option for your bub and they also freeze well.
