Serving Suggestions

This meal is perfect on its own, however if you wanted to add a finger food to serve alongside it, banana fingers would be a great option.

Storage Instructions

This mash is best made fresh and served straight away.

If you'd like to prep ahead, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours — give it a stir before serving as the oats will continue to soften.

Nutrition Notes

A balanced little bowl bringing together carbohydrates from the banana and oats, protein and calcium from the cottage cheese, and omega-3 and fibre from the ground flaxseed.

Parent Tip

Double or quadruple the quantities if you'd like enough for the whole family — as written it makes the perfect amount for a bub starting solids.

Frequently Asked Questions

From what age is this suitable?

From around 7 months. It can be offered younger if mashed or pureed to a smoother texture for new eaters.

Can I swap the cottage cheese?

Yes — soy or coconut yoghurt make a similar, dairy-free alternative.

Do I need to cook the oats?

No, this is a no-cook meal. The oats soften in the banana and cottage cheese — use quick oats for the smoothest result.
